In this system each unit works in two different modes normal and total failure. Assuming that the failure, repair, post repair, interchange of units and inspection times are stochastically independent random variables each having an arbitrary distribution. Approach: The system was analyzed by semi Markov process technique. Results: The time-dependent availability, steady-state availability, busy period analysis, expected number of visits by the repairman were obtained numerically and cost analysis was obtained numerically and graphically. Conclusion: Expected cost per unit time decreased with respect to the increase of failure rate.}, journal = {Journal of Mathematics and Statistics}, publisher = {Science Publications} }
