Contrary to stroke and myocardial infarction, diagnosis of pulmonary embolism is considered to be much more difficult and complicated compare with the treatment once diagnosis is confirmed. Multiple diagnostic studies including clinical scoring, serum biomarker and diagnostic imaging were developed to help clinician rule in or rule out pulmonary embolism. In this article, we discussed the advantage and disadvantage of these tests and a practical way to choose the right test to diagnose pulmonary embolism.
